His strength and balance have improved, and he has bonded with Bessie the hinny (Ben's barnyard friend) when no one else could! He once told her,

"Having a son who has had many diagnoses ranging from sensory integration to pervasive developmental disorder to autistic spectrum disorder, I constantly struggle with what are the best activities for him in order to be successful. We have run the gamut of activities, only to have him become upset and frustrated. My son has always had a fascination and connection with animals of all sorts, so when I discovered that Cloud Nine provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to gain skills, knowledge and the ability to ride horses, I was ecstatic. The success my child has found while horseback riding has been such an encouragement for him. By having this success, he has been able to transfer this to other areas of learning in his life! His memory and skill development have improved, and more importantly, he recognizes this! In addition, I have two other children who are of average abilities. They, too, have been able to partake in the lessons and gain confidence and skill development.

"Ben and I tried many different types of physical therapy, from traditional therapy in a cold, sterile hospital to Tae
Kwon Do in a beautiful gym. None were the right fit for Ben. He would soon lose interest. When a therapist suggested Cloud Nine, I thought it was the perfect answer for Ben. He could combine his love for animals with a good work out. Since we started coming to Cloud Nine, I have seen an improvement in Ben's balance, upper body strength and even in verbal skills. He has fallen in love with Patches (the horse assigned to him) and the whole staff at Cloud Nine. There is never an argument about going to PT now."
